Closing ceremony of training on "Domestic violence in the media" organized for journalists

A 4-day training on “Domestic Violence in the Media” was held for journalists with the support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, the Media Development Agency, Baku State University and the EU-funded Twinning project “Strengthening Support for Victims of Domestic Violence in Azerbaijan”.
The training, organized at Baku State University, was attended by 60 people, including employees of the State Committee, journalists representing a number of media representatives, as well as students of the journalism faculty of the University.
Deputy Chair of the State Committee, project manager Sadagat Gahramanova stressed the importance of such trainings for media representatives. She also noted that each journalist participating in the training will apply what they have learned here in their future activities, thus forming a new perspective on the coverage of cases of domestic violence
Rector of Baku State University Elchin Babayev stressed the importance of awareness-raising activities carried out by the State Committee, as well as cooperation with international organizations. Noting the importance of the trainings for journalists, especially students, Rector E. Babayev wished them success in their future activities.
Then the participants were awarded certificates.
The purpose of the trainings was to share international experience in the field of proper coverage of domestic violence in the media, protection of the confidentiality of victims and ways of interviewing victims of violence and providing support to the public
It should be noted that the trainings, which will take place on October 19-22, 2021, were conducted by Austrian experts Manuela Hargassner-Delpos and Thomas Hainlen.
