Bahar Muradova met with Uganda's Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development
On 2 May 2024, Chairperson of the State Committee Bahar Muradova met with Uganda's Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Sneedini Ong.Bahar Muradova welcomed the guests attending the VI World Forum of Intercultural Dialogue on the theme "Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Interaction" and expressed her pleasure in seeing them in our country.Paying attention to the prestigious event being held in our capital these days, the Chairperson noted that this event is an important date in the socio-political life of Azerbaijan. She underlined that during the panel session "Promotion of women's rights in intercultural dialogue: on the way to global development" held within the Forum, problems faced by peoples and countries were expressed, and experience and recommendations were voiced with the participation of guests from different countries and international organizations. The Chairperson drew attention to the importance of meetings held in such formats in ensuring human rights and expressed the importance of maximising the use of these opportunities. Appreciating the Minister's performance at the international level, the Chairperson of the Committee noted that she represents a country that is confidently pursuing its goals and added that we should intensify our mutual activities in relevant areas as partner institutions. Noting that Azerbaijan's Chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement and relations between the two countries are developing, the Chairperson emphasised that the messages and important steps taken by our country with the support of Uganda and other member states of the Movement are a great achievement and contribution to the process of ensuring peace and security in the world. She expressed confidence that this process will become more sustainable in the coming years. Expressing gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, Betty Sneedini Ongom, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development of Uganda, expressed satisfaction with participation in the Global Forum and underlined the main points and messages presented in the opening speech of President Ilham Aliyev. While assessing Azerbaijan's activity during its Chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement, the guest noted that the country has taken significant steps towards the establishment of the Movement and has proposed many crucial initiatives. The Minister emphasized the importance of joint and coordinated efforts in various fields related to women's rights. She referred to the "Conference on the Development and Expansion of Women's Rights" and noted that such efforts would be beneficial in the positive implementation of the documents adopted during the event.During the bilateral meeting, the participants discussed potential cooperation opportunities to improve coordination in relevant areas. Other officials from both sides also participated in the meeting.
The topic "Advancing Women's Rights in Intercultural Dialogue: Towards Global Development" was discussed
The discussion, moderated by Nargiz Azizova, was addressed by Cigdem Erdogan, GST Policy Advisor of UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, Chairperson of the Commission on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men of the Turkish Assembly, Leila Bijos, Lead Programme Specialist of UNESCO, Professor of the University of Brazil Jao Mayor Pessoa, Dr Leila Bijos, Director of "Diploria Netherlands", Dr Alice Boman-Dentener, Head of "We Need to Talk Association", activist of CSD Ilya. Alice Boman-Dentener, Head of "We Need to Talk Association", CSD activist Ilaida Eskitaşcioglu, member of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women DrElgun Safarov, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Gabon to UNESCO Raquel Annick Ogula Akiko, UNESCO Programme Specialist Garance Sarlat.It was noted during the meeting that international conferences serve as a crucial platform for sharing ideas and experiences. It was also noted that great strides had been made towards equality between women and men and that not only parliaments but all state bodies and society should work together to promote gender equality. During the presentations, the speakers shared their experiences in promoting gender equality in their country, women's economic empowerment, and access to natural resources.UNESCO Programme Specialist Garans Sarlat reviewed all the presentations, highlighted the keywords of each presentation and added that women now have the opportunity to organise and influence intercultural dialogue.At the end, the speakers answered questions from the participants of the event.
The 4th-panel session of the VI World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue was launched
The 4th panel session of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue on the theme "Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Collaboration" was launched.The meeting dedicated to the theme "Promotion of women's rights in intercultural dialogue: on the way to global development" featured opening speeches of the heads of partner institutions of Azerbaijan and Uganda.Welcoming the participants of the Forum, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Bahar Muradova mentioned that through this dialogue platform involving different parties, the experience can be exchanged and an equal and inclusive format of cooperation can be created. Noting that peace and security issues are now becoming topical on all platforms as the main topics on the national and international agenda, the Chairperson noted mine contamination in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.B. Muradova highlighted that women in our country, who were the first to receive suffrage in the Muslim East, have always been held in high regard and the rights of mothers have been duly respected. The fundamental principles of our modern state's women's policy have been built upon this age-old foundation. It was underlined that issues of women's rights, gender equality and elimination of all forms of discrimination by law are at the centre of the agenda of all formats. Сhairperson reminded all attendees of the "Expanding the Role of Women in Intercultural Dialogue" forum that took place in Baku in 2008. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation organized the two-day event with the support of UNESCO and ISESCO. The forum sparked widespread discussion on the topic of expanding the role of women. During the last two decades, women have played an increasingly significant role in the business world both in our country and globally. For instance, B. Muradova highlighted the organization of three congresses and one forum for Azerbaijani women during this period. Furthermore, last year, a conference on the development and expansion of women's rights was held on the initiative of the Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, Mr Ilham Aliyev. The Chairperson of the Committee emphasised that women's development comes through education and economic empowerment and concluded her presentation with suggestions and recommendations for engaging women in the process to achieve peace and security as well as enhancing their role in the global value chain. Addressing the session, Betty Ongom, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development of Uganda, expressed gratitude to the President and the organisers for the opportunity to come together at this Global Forum. She emphasised that Baku has become an influential city uniting different countries to regularly discuss issues of concern to the world community, such as achieving peace, security and human rights. Drawing attention to the problems faced by women, the Minister stressed the importance of joint dialogue on women's rights, culture and religion in addressing these issues. She emphasized the importance of establishing public associations to shift attitudes towards safeguarding women's rights, and urged for collective action to eliminate harmful gender stereotypes. This would involve the participation of both women and men, as well as government officials, parliamentarians, civil society representatives, and religious leaders. The panel session continued with presentations by the speakers.
Educational meetings are continuing under the project 'You are the creator of your life'
Naila Ibrahimova, an official of the State Committee, delivered a speech at the regular meetings organised by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education. During the meeting with students, Ulkar Jamalova, a specialist doctor of the Centre for Public Health and Reforms of the Ministry of Health, as well as psychologist Aidan Hasmamedzadeh talked about the negative impact of drugs and psychotropic substances on human psychology, as well as comprehensive measures taken in this regard. During the meeting, the importance of increasing the interest of adolescents and young people in science, sports and proper organisation of their leisure time was emphasised.After the speeches, a video was shown and informative materials were distributed.It should be noted that the main goal of the project is to educate children and adolescents about the harm of drug addiction to society and human health, the problems and complications associated with the use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and the measures being implemented in this area.

The Chair of the State Committee received the citizens of Kazakh
On April 19, 2024, the appeals of residents of Gazakh, Agstafa and Tovuz regions were heard at the reception held by the heads of the central executive authorities according to the schedule for the reception of citizens in cities and regions. Before the reception, bouquets of flowers were placed in front of the monument of National leader Heydar Aliyev, and his dear memory was commemorated with respect.At the meeting held with the participation of the head of the relevant structural department of the State Committee, citizens' appeals on various topics were heard. The topics were related to payment of alimony, employment, solving legal problems after divorce, children's rights and other issues.Citizens' appeals related to the Committee's sphere of competence were listened to, and relevant tasks were given for a comprehensive study of the raised issues and their short-term solutions. Appeals requiring investigation were registered and processed.
The training was held on "Protection of children's rights in criminal proceedings".
On April 17-18, 2024, a two-day training was held on the topic "Protection of children's rights in criminal proceedings" with the participation of Turkish experts within the framework of the "Action Plan on Cooperation Protocol in the field of policy on family, women and children issues signed between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Turkey" by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey. Ms. Jeyran Rahmatullayeva, the chief of staff of the Committee, made an opening speech at the event and spoke about the importance of cooperation relations regarding the establishment of specialised children's courts, children's police and children's prosecutors, and the study of the positive experience of the Republic of Turkey and its promotion in Azerbaijan in order to create services that meet the needs of children. The training covered themes such as pre-trial proceedings against minors on criminal prosecution in the Republic of Turkey, protection (support) of the rights of children who are victims or witnesses during the investigation of crimes, methods of cooperation of prosecutor's offices with institutions for the protection of children's rights, Turkey's experience in fulfilling obligations under the Council of Europe Convention (Lansarote Convention) "On the protection of children from sexual exploitation and sexual violence" and other topics. An employee of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Turkey also participated in the training conducted by Mujahit Gulshen and Jem Kurt, the legal advisers of the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey through a live link. A total of 80 prosecutors participated in the training held at the Science and Education Center of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
"Progress" medals were presented to the women awarded by the President
On April 16, 2024, awards were presented to women who were awarded the "Progress" medal according to the Decree of President Mr. Ilham Aliyev for their effective activities in the public life of the country. Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the chairperson of the State Committee, who delivered the opening speech, greeted the event participants and congratulated them. She emphasized that the Azerbaijani woman is historically a devoted mother who protects and develops our family values, who raises worthy citizens and brave heroes who liberate our lands. The chairperson of the committee stressed that the main share in the preservation of our national and moral values falls on the shoulders of our women and that she is proud of our historically enlightened and capable women. Reminding that the national leader Heydar Aliyev always appreciated women, that they have a unique attitude to their place in the family, society, and state life, the chairperson pointed out that the traditions set by the great leader in his time in women's policy are continued today. Speaking about the projects realized within the "Year of Heydar Aliyev", B. Muradova emphasized the many achievements of Azerbaijan this year. Noting that after the victory in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, our country achieved new successes and restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity as a result of anti-terrorist operations, the Chairperson of the Committee called the first presidential election held in the spirit of victory as an indicator of loyalty to the great leader's legacy. She added that the role of our women in all these processes, as well as in ensuring the return to Karabakh in the near future, is undeniable. Recalling the opinion of Mr. President's congratulation on the occasion of International Women's Day, "Our people have always respected women and prioritized the rights of mothers," the chairperson said that Azerbaijan's current state women's policy is developing on this basis. At the end of his speech, the Chairperson of the Committee heartily congratulated each of the awarded women and said that receiving a state award signed by the President is an honor, pride and responsibility, and he believes that they will carry it with dignity and pride. Later, Presidential awards were presented to the women who had their say in the development of science and culture of Azerbaijan, as well as those who had important services in the social and political sphere. The awardees spoke and said that they are proud to be awarded as citizens of the winning country, which has ensured its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Evaluating this award as an honorable page in their activities, they expressed their gratitude to the head of the country for the attention and trust he has shown to the women of Azerbaijan, they said that they will justify the trust and be loyal to our homeland and nation.
The State Committee plans to hold the next "Open Door" day in the regions
The State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affiars plans to hold the next "Open Door" day in the regions. "Open door" day on April 24, 2024, from 10:00 to 17:00 by the Children and Family Support Centers of the State Committee will be held with the participation of psychologists, social workers and lawyers.
