On December 7, 2017, the conference on the outcome of the project " Strengthening employment opportunities and professional qualifications of refugees and IDP girls with incomplete education " was jointly implemented by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and UNESCO. The conference was opened by Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova, Deputy Chair of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs. Sadagat Gahramanova informed participants of the event about the importance of the project, integration of refugee and IDP girls into society and activities in this direction.
Mrs. Rena Mirzazada, Head of the Department of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Philosophy Institute, chairman of the Gender and Human Rights Public Union, Mrs. Vusala Fataliyeva, deputy head of the Shusha District Executive Power and Mrs. Zenfira Agayeva, a member of the Public Council under the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs are also gave speech on the relevant issues.
The project started on September 1, 2017. The main objective of the Project is to ensure that the refugees and IDP girls with incomplete education are provided with employment opportunities through increasing their knowledge on various fields (use of computer and modern technical equipment, awareness-raising on women's rights legislation etc.), and thus integrating into society and preventing them to become a victim of early marriage.
Within the Project, computer skills courses were held for the refugees and IDP girls. They learned to work on computer programs, use search engines and so on. The participants were provided with computers, printers, copiers, scanners and modems, in order to learn how to use them to strengthen the knowledge gained through the Project.
In addition, the girls were also taught on issues as drafting of a CV by an employment specialist, preparation for interview with the employer, etc..
It should be noted that, within the project, trainings for refugees and internally displaced persons and their families were organized on the following topics. During each workshop, educational brochures and materials were prepared and distributed:
Ø “Empowerment of women”
Ø “Combating trafficking in human beings”
Ø “Prevention of Domestic Violence”
Ø “Women’s Labor Rights”
Ø “Prevention of Early Marriages”
Ø “Gender Equality in the Republic of Azerbaijan and National Legislation”
Ø “CEDAW Convention and its Additional Protocol”
At the end of the project, certificates were given to incomplete educated refugees and internally displaced persons.
