The State Committee held a briefing dedicated to the activities for 6 months of 2023

The Chairperson of the State Committee Mrs. Bahar Muradova held a briefing dedicated to the activities of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs for 6 months of 2023.

Welcoming the media representatives at the briefing on July 19, the Chairperson of the Committee congratulated the journalists on the upcoming National Press Day, wished them success in their activities and emphasized that daily work with the press is the main priority in the activities of the Committee.
 
She noted that the current year is a very important period for our country and spoke about the results and tasks that were set by Mr. President on the results of 6 months.
 
Later, B. Muradova made a presentation and emphasized that in order to strengthen the legal framework and improve legislation in the field of family, women and children, the Committee has prepared 6 draft documents, of which 5 drafts have received feedback and suggestions.
 
Noting that studies and analyses on 6 different topics have been completed by the Committee in the current half year, she also pointed out that 40 trainings, seminars and public meetings have been held on family issues with participation of 8523 people and 6 projects have been realized. 
Furthermore, Muradova informed that in accordance with the Action Plan signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan, " Days of fairy tales" were organized with participation of storytellers invited from Turkey, covering about 5000 people, including children and parents.
 
Referring to the activities of Women's Resource Centers established by the Committee in 17 districts, Muradova noted that 4970 people use the services of these centers.
 
Further, she informed about the work carried out by the Committee on protection of children's rights, prevention of early marriages and violence against them, increasing children's participation, noting that during 6 months of the current year, a total of 6 projects, 29 trainings, seminars and conferences were held with participation of 1868 people.
 
Stressing that 20515 people have benefited from the 11 Child and Family Support Centres under the Committee, she mentioned that out of 1608 referrals received from 1570 people, 646 have been resolved and the rest have been sent to the appropriate referrals. She also noted that during the first half of 2023, family monitoring visits were organised on 20 facts related to early marriage, and 17 cases of early marriage were prevented.
It was noted that in 6 regions receptions of the Chairperson of the Committee were held with the participation of citizens from 11 districts.  4 " Open Doors Days" were held by the centres during 6 months.
It was noted that during the current half year the Committee received 1834 appeals of citizens. The number of appeals concerning domestic violence increased by 10 per cent compared to the first half of last year.

Speaking about the 860 support line related to gender-based violence, B. Muradova noted that 146 calls were received during the current six months. Referring to the activities of the Women's Support Line 116-1111 , the Chairperson said that the line had received 3,359 applications.
 
She stressed the importance of cooperation with mass media, civil society institutions, and non-governmental organisations in the activity of the Committee, informed that 115 media appeals were answered for 6 months, and a new Public Council consisting of 11 members was formed.
 
Noting that the sixth periodic report of the Government of Azerbaijan on the implementation of the "Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women", as well as the fifth and sixth joint periodic reports on the implementation of the "Convention on the Rights of the Child" were presented, the Chairperson underlined that final observations and recommendations were adopted after both reports.
 
Further, the Chairperson answered media questions on prevention of early marriage and domestic violence, issuance of protection orders, implementation of the Action Plan within the framework of the Memorandum signed with the Republic of Turkey, establishment of new family centres, implementation of the recommendations of the relevant UN committees, relocation of population groups to the territories liberated from occupation.
