There was an exchange of views on cooperation between the State Committee and the UNHCR Representation in the Republic of Azerbaijan

Mrs. Bahar Muradova, The Chairperson of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs met with the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the Republic of Azerbaijan Bik Lum on May 11, 2023.
Welcoming the guests, Mrs. Bahar Muradova thanked the UN for its support in improving the lives of refugees and internally displaced persons, which started working in our country during the most difficult periods of the Karabakh conflict since the end of the last century.
Noting that the process of gradual return to the liberated lands has already begun, B. Muradova expressed her confidence that cooperation with the UN will make important contributions when dealing with people who are at risk of landmines, internally displaced women subjected to violence, and people from other vulnerable groups.
Expressing her gratitude for the sincere reception, Bik Lum gave information about the measures implemented by the UN in our country and noted that these projects aim to support the government of Azerbaijan in the process of preparing for the Great Return.
She said that within the framework of joint cooperation with the committee, there are many directions of action, such as raising awareness about landmines, empowering women in society, providing legal assistance to internally displaced women and persons at risk of statelessness in Azerbaijan, and increasing the skills of employees of Child and Family Support Centers.
The meeting continued with the discussion of prospects for bilateral cooperation and possible projects in the future.
Mrs.Kamala Hagverdiyeva, deputy head of the Foreign Relations and Protocol Service Department, Mrs. Aydan Seyidova, Deputy Director of the Legal Department of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mrs. Sevinj Mastiyeva, an employee of that department, took part in the meeting.
