On December 21-23, the participation of 25 female athletes in the Azerbaijan Cup in weightlifting among women, men and veterans held at the competition hall of the Weightlifting Academy in Shuvelan settlement was recorded as a record in the history of Azerbaijan weightlifting.

Among female athletes, Samira Rzayeva, Nazila Ismayilova, Seljan Garayeva, Fazila Imanova, Ayisha Aliyeva, Fidan Mirzazade, Rahila Huseynzade, Leyla Maharramova, Elnara Rashidova were awarded gold medals in their weight classes.

At the same time, for the first time in republican weightlifting tournaments, a female specialist was appointed as the chief judge of the competition. This position was entrusted to Sabina Rzayeva, a former weightlifter, Azerbaijani women's champion, three-time European and world champion among masters.

Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affair, Mrs. Hijran Huseynova, and Mr. Iqbal Mammadov the MPs participated in the awarding ceremony of the athletes and presented them with medals and wished them success in their future activities.

It should be noted that the purpose of organizing the Azerbaijan Cup is to identify the country's best sports organizations in weightlifting, the best female and male athletes, and the main, variable and reserve forces consisting of promising weightlifters, to ensure the participation of veteran athletes in order to be an example to teenagers and young athletes and to select stronger veteran athletes for international level competitions in 2023.
