Bahar Muradova met with the newly appointed head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Azerbaijan

On June 22, 2022, Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs met with the outgoing head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan Mrs. Arian Bauer and the newly appointed head of the organization Mrs. Dragana Kojic.

Welcoming the guests, Mrs. Bahar Muradova noted the growing cooperation between the ICRC and the business community, emphasizing the importance of joint projects. She noted that the activities of the organization are aimed at addressing the concerns of all people, as well as the problems of families in difficult situations, noting that the measures taken to alleviate the living conditions serve this group of people and the Committee is proud to be involved in this process.

Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, Mrs. Muradova noted that there were mass graves in the liberated territories. She also praised the participation and continued efforts of the Red Cross in this process, noting the work done to find and return hostages as a result of the war, work with their families, and protect the rights of women and children affected.

The chairman of the committee stressed the importance of the life of every Azerbaijani citizen, both inside and outside the country, and noted the steps taken by the state in this direction.

Mrs. Muradova once again expressed satisfaction with the effective work of the former head of the ICRC Office in Azerbaijan, wished her success in his new post, and wished the head of the organization Dragana Kojic success in her new post.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception and detailed exchange of views, Mrs. Bauer said she would leave Azerbaijan with fond memories. She informed the organization about the previous activities of the newly appointed Dragana Kojic and expressed confidence that she will be able to cope with the forthcoming mission and further strengthen the existing bilateral relations.

She spoke about the projects implemented by the organization in Azerbaijan, noting that the ICRC's large-scale projects in Azerbaijan have been successfully implemented in the past in active cooperation with the State Committee.

Dragana Kojic, the new head of the ICRC Representation in the Republic of Azerbaijan, said she would make every effort to continue the cooperation successfully.

The sides also exchanged views on relations between the ICRC and the Azerbaijani government, prospects and humanitarian cooperation in the post-war period.

The meeting was attended by Farid Adilov, head of the International Relations and Protocol Service Department of the State Committee, and Ilaha Huseynova, head of the ICRC's Public Relations Department.
