As a continuation of the joint activities of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Ministry of Health, an awareness-raising event on "Combating prenatal gender discrimination " was held on June 17, 2022, at the Siyazan Heydar Aliyev Center for young girls and women. The event was organized jointly with the Siyazan District Executive Power and the Siyazan District Office of the Youth Development and Career Center.

Mrs. Kamila Aliyeva, Deputy Head of the Family Problems Department of the Committee, made a presentation on the current situation in the country according to the sex ratio of children born, the decrease in the number of births, the increase in the number of cases of induced abortion of pregnancy, especially due to the prenatal sex selection and she stressed that as a result, the number of boys increases and the gender balance is disturbed. K.Aliyeva informed about the laws adopted in this direction, state programs, measures taken by the state and international experience.

Then Mrs. Zumrud Kazimova, a methodologist at the Center for Public Health Reforms of the Ministry of Health, spoke about the negative impact of abortion on women's reproductive health and psychological condition.

Speaking at the event, officials of the Siyazan District Executive Power and the Heydar Aliyev Center recommended the participants fight against gender stereotypes.

At the end of the event, the questions of the participants were answered.
