A meeting was held in Sabunchu district to implement the "National Action Plan to Combat Domestic Violence in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2020-2023", to strengthen measures to prevent domestic violence and to raise awareness in this area.

The meeting was attended by Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova, Deputy Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and officials of the Committee, Mrs. Rena Farajova, Deputy Head of the Sabunchu District Executive Power and Head of the Monitoring Group on Gender Violence and Violence against Children, members of the Monitoring Group established in local executive authorities, as well as Deputy Heads of Local Executive Powers in Baku, representatives of education, health and law enforcement agencies, mayors of districts.

Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova, Deputy Chair of the State Committee spoke about the need to take preventive measures in order to prevent domestic violence. She stressed the importance of using the opportunities of municipalities in this direction, noting that the new pilot project in Sabunchu will be implemented in other regions in the near future.

Giving information about the project, Mrs. Rena Farajova, Deputy Head of Sabunchu District Executive Power, Head of the Monitoring Group on Gender Violence and Violence against Children, said that the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, the Center for Work with Municipalities and Sabunchu District Executive Power Gender and Domestic Violence Commissions have been launched for the first time in all municipalities of Sabunchu district as a pilot project to identify at-risk families, conduct preventive work with them and provide necessary psychological and legal support to victims of violence. She noted that members of Commissions were regularly involved in trainings by the State Committee.

Afterward, discussions were held on the topic, and information was provided on the appeals received by the monitoring groups and the work done in this area, as well as a number of issues arising from family relations.
