Mrs. Bahar Muradova, Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, made an opening speech at the event, greeted the festival participants and congratulated the families on this remarkable day. She informed that family day has been celebrated as a holiday in Azerbaijan since 2007. The Chair added that today, together with all the peoples of the world, we think about our family, which is the closest social environment, and consider the relationship of family members to each other, love, compassion, and care as the most important values.

Speaking about the measures implemented as a result of the state policy, the Chair of the Committee noted that the state of Azerbaijan is further improving its family policy and this policy only serves the welfare, development, health, and safety of our families. She said that this issue is the joint work of all our families, society, media and civil society along with state bodies.

 At the end of her speech, Mrs. Bahar Muradova added that the State Committee constantly keeps family issues on the agenda together with different layers of society, works to eliminate the difficulties they face, and implements projects on various topics with local and international partners.

It should be noted that the main goal of the festival, which is jointly organized by the financial support of the European Union, the UN Population Fund, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the "Regional Development" Public Union, is to prevent the phenomenon of preference for boys, to promote the value of the girl child and is to contribute to the fight against gender stereotypes, with special attention to the promotion of an equal care model in the family.
