An event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide

On February 18, 2022, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and "Azerkitab" Book Center jointly organized the event called "Khojaly-30. We have not forgotten, we will not forget."
The event was preceded by an exhibition of the book "Looking Back" and other books dedicated to the Khojaly genocide, authored by Ms. Sariya Muslimgizi the chairman of the Public Union "Promotion of the Armenian Aggression", writer and publicist.
Welcoming the guests, Mrs. Bahar Muradova stressed that the events that took place as a result of the Armenian aggression have affected all spheres of our life over the past 30 years. She noted that we have always looked at our history, the path we have taken, raised our voices against people with bad intentions about the people living in our geography, our nation, and always believed that we would put an end to this aggression, injustice and oppression.
"After the war, we celebrate this painful day with pride in our hearts," she said. "In 44 days, very serious steps have been taken to solve this 100-year-old problem. "Today we are faced with a legal assessment of this incident, bringing the perpetrators of the genocide to justice and punishing them."
Stressing the numerous documents in this direction that have been adopted in the international arena as a result of the work carried out by the Azerbaijani government so far, Mrs. Muradova said that the political assessment of this event is that it is a crime against people. For many years, various projects and actions have been implemented, films and books have been made to inform the world community about the Khojaly genocide. One of such examples is the book "Looking Back" authored by Ms. Seriya Muslimgizi, presented today: "Ms. Seriya organizes a series of events in foreign countries and her books are presented. These books are about the history of women, the elderly, innocent children, and destroyed families who lost their lives in that tragedy and saw the worst of it. As a witness to each of these stories, it takes great strength and perseverance to listen and write from people's speeches.”
At the end of her speech, Mrs.Muradova paid tribute to the innocent victims of the Khojaly tragedy and thanked Sariya for writing such a book.
Mr. Sabir Hasanov, project manager of Azerkitab Book Center, greeted the guests. Expressing satisfaction by holding such an important event in cooperation with the State Committee, Mr. Hasanov said that our goal is to promote the book, support the return of our people to the book, formation of young people as healthy, rich people, preserve the tradition of love for books and further development, and also to promote the book "Looking Back" presented at the event, to introduce it to readers, - added the head of the Center.
Mr.Rashad Majid, Deputy Chair of the Azerbaijan Writers 'Union, Editor-in-Chief of the 525th Newspaper, Mr.Hikmet Babaoglu and Mr.Jeyhun Mammadov, the MPs, Mr. Mirniyaz Mursalov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations of the Azerbaijan Theological Institute, Mrs. Sevinj Alizadeh, the founder of the Zafar Martyrs' Families Support Union, Mrs. Zemfira Maharramli, the Writer-publicist, honored journalist and others shared their thoughts on the Khojaly genocide, as well as the importance of the book "Looking Back".
Mrs. Sariya Muslimgizi, the author of the book "Don't look back" gave detailed information about the book to the guests.
At the end of her speech, Mrs. Sariya Muslimgizi stressed that the book she authored reflected the tragic lives of people who witnessed the event. She expressed confidence that this fact-based information would play an important role in conveying the truth about the genocide to the world community.
