99 years have passed since the birth of Zahra Guliyeva, a prominent scientist, public figure, a beautiful person, a bright personality and a true citizen, who has a special place among our compatriots who have exemplary life for future generations.

Zahra Guliyeva was awarded high prizes for her services in the development of healthcare, medical science and public activity in the republic, and made important contributions with her leading role in the Azerbaijani women's movement.

Mrs. Zahra was the Chair of the State Committee for Women's Issues, established in 1998, a prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, rector of the Azerbaijan Medical University, Chair of the Azerbaijan Society of Ophthalmologists, a well-known intellectual and public figure. At the same time, she was a selfless and caring mother, an exemplary citizen, a loyal friend and a noble Azerbaijani woman.

Zahra Guliyeva was repeatedly elected to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, district and Baku city councils, and was a member of various international societies and councils. During her tenure as chair of the State Committee for Women's Issues, she visited the regions and took care of people. Mrs. Zahra, who felt joy and happiness when she saw the activity of women in the regions and rural areas, their speeches at events, tried to make women more aware of their rights, to be more active and enterprising.

As a patriotic intellectual committed to national ideals, she has always worked tirelessly for the prosperous future of Azerbaijan, representing Azerbaijani women by participating in women's congresses, scientific symposiums, peace days and high-level meetings in many countries around the world.

Mrs. Zahra, who lived the national and spiritual values of Azerbaijan and passed them on to future generations, lived a life that will be an example for all times, gained inexhaustible love and great respect among people.
