Awareness training was organized for representatives of Gender Commissions

 Educational training for the representatives of the Gender Commissions established in the Lankaran-Astara economic region on the rights and responsibilities of municipalities, gender equality and leadership was held on December 10, 2021.

The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, in cooperation with the German Cooperation (GIZ), has been implementing a number of projects since 2012 to increase and strengthen women's participation and participation in public life, as well as to ensure gender-oriented governance in local self-government.

Gender Commissions were established in Municipalities in 15 regions and cities of the Republic within the framework of the “Good Governance Program for Local Development in the South Caucasus” implemented in 2020  and 15 additional gender commissions are planned to be established .

Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova, Deputy Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and a representative of the Lankaran City Executive Power made opening remarks at the training, emphasizing the importance of establishing gender commissions in local self-government bodies.

Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova gave information about thee  monitoring groups on gender violence and violence against children in local executive authorities which are headed by deputy chief executives.

Then Mr. Tofig Hasanov, Executive Secretary of the National Association of Municipalities of Azerbaijan, told the participants about the essence of the Gender Equality Commission in local self-government, international conventions and national legislation, the rights and responsibilities of gender officials in municipalities, existing problems.
