On October 28, 2021, 38 children of the Republic of Azerbaijan detained in penitentiaries and orphanages of the Republic of Iraq were repatriated to our country.
Bringing children to Azerbaijan was possible as a result of coordinated activities and phased measures implemented by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In preparation for the process, members of the working group responsible for the repatriation and rehabilitation of Azerbaijani citizens from the Arab Republics of Iraq and Syria were sent to Baghdad.
As a result, 38 children were brought to our country accompanied by a delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of a representative of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
It is planned to take all necessary measures for the reintegration and rehabilitation of children with the joint participation of the State Committee and other relevant agencies.
So far, a total of 288 Azerbaijani citizens, including 286 children and 2 women, have been repatriated from the Republic of Iraq.
The State Committee regularly assesses and monitors the condition of children and their families, as well as provides psychological support and prepares relevant documents.
