The Azerbaijani delegation continues its study visit to Austria on domestic violence

Visit to the Republic of Austria within the framework of the Twinning project "Strengthening the capacity of government agencies and local referral mechanisms to ensure the safety and support of victims of domestic violence in Azerbaijan" jointly implemented by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the European Union. On October 7, 2021, the delegation led by Deputy Chair of the State Committee Sadagat Gahramanova met with Irmgard Lechner, head of the Vienna Women's Shelter Center, which specializes in the protection, support and temporary accommodation of women and their children.
It was noted that there are currently 4 shelters with 175 places in the capital Vienna, and it is planned to create a fifth shelter, which will increase the number of places to 220. The Center also has a Consultation Center.
Only Viennese residents are admitted to the center, there is a 7/24 hotline service. Women can apply for asylum directly by themselves, their close relatives and any organization. Prior to admission to the shelter, professional social workers, psychologists and therapists assess the victim's condition, conduct a risk assessment, and discuss weekly events within the Center.
Then the delegation met with Rosa Logar, Director of the Center for Intervention against Domestic Violence. The activities and experiences of the Center were shared at the meeting. The meeting continued with the exchange of experiences and discussions in the field of domestic violence.
