The mass media plays an important role in our lives and is directly involved in informing society. Information has become one of the important factors in the progressive development of society over the centuries, as well as in the era of modern globalization. The stage of formation of the Azerbaijani national press has passed a complex path of development and reached a modern level. Our national press was established in 1875 on the initiative of Hasan bey Zardabi with the publication of the "Akinchi" newspaper.
After gaining independence, Azerbaijan has created opportunities to ensure freedom of speech and information, as well as the economic independence of the media.
Today, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, important measures are being taken to further increase the role and activity of the media in society, to bring it into line with modern requirements. Media representatives, in turn, are stepping up their efforts for self-development in order to further increase their professionalism.
It should be noted that the undeniable role of the media became clear during the 44-day war. Media representatives who fought on the information front during the war showed great selflessness in conveying the truth to the world media.
The role of the media in covering information on women and children's rights in the country, promoting national, moral and family values, as well as eliminating gender stereotypes are undeniable.
As the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs, we appreciate the work of media representatives and we attach special importance to our cooperation.
