June 1 - Round table "My voice - my rights" dedicated to the International Children's Day

A round table entitled "My voice - my rights" which was dedicated to the International Children's Day was held on June 1, 2021.

The event was held in cooperation with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, UNICEF Office in Azerbaijan and the Regional Development Public Union (RDU) to launch the V Republican Forum of Azerbaijani Children, which is scheduled for November this year.

The roundtable was attended by members of the Assembly of Children's Ambassadors, including children from 76 regions of the country, who was active over the year, living in state child institutions, as well as non-nationals joined online in accordance with the rules of quarantine.

In her opening speech, Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the Chair of the State Committee congratulated the participants on June 1 and wished all children a safe life and a happy future. The Chairof the Committee said that we must build and develop children's lives with their participation and representation, while maintaining the priority of their interests.  As a result of the leadership of Mr.President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva's serious care and attention to this area, the care of vulnerable children, which is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan's children's policy, should always be in the focus of relevant authorities . In addition, Mrs. Bahar Muradova spoke about the projects to be implemented within the Forum, which is scheduled for November, and expressed confidence that the work will contribute to the protection of children's rights.

Making a speech at the event, Mr. Edward Carwardine, the UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan said that he was glad to be with members of the Assembly of Children's Ambassadors on such a significant day. Stressing that despite the difficult year for children last year, they were able to overcome these challenges, and Mr. Carvardin stressed the importance of protecting children's rights and creating new opportunities for them, taking into account the new conditions created in the result of the pandemic.  Emphasizing the very important historical events that took place in Azerbaijan last year, the UNICEF official noted that the communities to be established and the projects to be implemented will provide new opportunities for children to have a more positive future.

Mrs. Leyla Tagiyeva, the project manager in the Regional Development Public Union (RDPU) congratulated the participants and said that ensuring children's rights is one of the priorities of the state policy in our country. She noted that numerous activities have been carried out in the field and one of the main activities of the Regional Development Public Union, established at the initiative of the Foundation, is to support the early development of children, increase their access to education and other social services, as well as promote their rights.

Afterwards, the event was moderated by the children's ambassador Nurlan Jabrayilzadeh, who presented the annual report of the Assembly. The report was followed by a video on the congratulations of foreign children to Azerbaijani children, followed by a video on the topic of the Forum. Participants made presentation on the topics entitled "Children's rights: united for development", "Children's Internet security", "New standards in education: challenges and equal opportunities", "Health protection, healthy lifestyle”, "Protection of the environment", "Effective organization and evaluation of leisure time", "The role and responsibility of the family and society in the formation of children as individuals", "Let's love the motherland, let's be worthy of it."

Then the children's ambassadors were presented with membership cards.

The round table continued with discussions on issues related to children's rights, and relevant recommendations were given to them.

In conclusion, Mrs. Bahar Muradova thanked the children participating in the event, especially members of Parliament, noting that they represent the rights of children from all regions of the country, and wished them success in their future lives.
