The meeting  among athlete Ilham Zakiyev and members of the Assembly of Children`s Ambassadors, as well as about 100 children from the regions of the country, was held on May 6, 2021, within the project of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs  entitled  "Let's love the motherland, let's be worthy of it!".

Opening the event, Mrs. Jamila Bagirova, the head of the Children department of the State Committee noted that the organization of children's meetings with prominent and famous people of the country within the project made an important contribution to the future development of children. She  spoke about athlete Ilham Zakiyev's success in his career and said that the Azerbaijani people have always supported him.

Mr.Zakiyev said he was wounded by an enemy sniper while serving in the army. He also talked about starting his professional career after that.

Mr. Zakiyev told the participants about his victories in international competitions and the difficulties he faced on this way. One of his greatest achievements was winning a gold medal at the 2015 European Games, which he presented to President Ilham Aliyev on Armed Forces Day.

During the meeting, the athlete answered the questions of children, emphasizing the importance of science and education for the future development of children. He said that only an educated, patriotic generation can lead Azerbaijan to future success.
