Workshop on “Innovative practices to prevent child abuse during COVID 19 pandemic” is continued

The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the European Union launched a two-day  workshop on "Innovative practices to prevent  child  abuse during COVID 19 pandemic " within the TAIEX project on April 22, 2021.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the services provided for children and families by 11 Child and Family Support Centers acting under the State Committee and study the best practices of European countries for protecting children's rights during special quarantine and social isolation.

The two-day workshop will continue with presentations on protecting children's health, improving access to quality health and education, and sharing practical experiences on ensuring children's participation during the pandemic. At the same time, it is planned to provide specialists with theoretical knowledge about the professional techniques used in the organization of specific consultations for children in the post-pandemic period.

Opening the training|, Mrs. Jeyran Rahmatullayeva, Chief of Staff of the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs greeted the participants and wished success to the workshop.

The  official of the Committee  said that urgent measures have been taken in the field of child protection in Azerbaijan including strengthening online safety awareness, as well as implementing psycho-social support projects.

Mrs. Rahmatullayeva stressed that Azerbaijani children have experienced 44-day war as well as a pandemic over the last year. During this war, children from the cities that not close to the conflict zone became victims of Armenian terror: 12 children were killed and 50 were injured as a result of the Armenian attacks. Specialists of the regional centers also work closely with these  children and families affected by the war, who suffered from stress and trauma during the post-war period”

The workshop will be attended by high-ranking officials and child development specialists such as Mr. Elizabeth Dahlin,  Ombudsman for Children Office from Sweden and other specialists from Spain Croatia, Estonia, and the Kingdom of  Netherlands.
