We respectfully commemorate the memory of prominent scientist Mrs. Zahra Guliyeva, who played an important role in the Azerbaijani women's movement.

Chairman of the State Committee for Women's Issues, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Society of Ophthalmologists, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Scientist, Professor Zahra Guliyeva is known as a socio-political figure who made significant contributions to the development of women's health and medical science in Azerbaijan.

Mrs. Zahra Guliyeva was appointed chairman of the State Committee for Women's Issues established on January 14, 1998 by the Decree of national leader Heydar Aliyev. She has succeeded in representing women in all areas, increasing women's participation, focusing on women's issues at the local and international levels, and other relevant areas.

Mrs. Zahra Guliyeva was awarded the "Red Labor Flag", "Badge of Honor", "Glory" orders and medals of the Republic of Azerbaijan for her fruitful activity and significant services, and was awarded the title of Honored Scientist.

She died on November 28, 2005.
