Bahar Muradova met with the Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan

On November 26, 2020, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Mrs.Bahar Muradova met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan Dainis Garančs.
Welcoming the guests, Mrs.Bahar Muradova noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia have a long history and based on mutually beneficial cooperation and friendship.
Touching upon the importance of the "Women for Peace" international online conference held on November 24, the Chairperson of the Committee noted the steps taken towards the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution “1325 on Women, Peace and Security” in Azerbaijan, particularly the preparation of the National Action Plan which is important for the current time.
Speaking about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mrs.Muradova underlined that the shelling by Armenian forces, Azerbaijani cities located far from the war zone and attacks on civilians are human rights violations. She emphasized that women and children in Azerbaijan mostly suffer from this conflict.
Mrs.Muradova touched upon the decision of the French Senate, noting that such actions of the co-Chair country of the Minsk Group lead to aggravation of the conflict rather than resolution.
Ambassador Dainis Garančs thanked for the warm welcome and stated that he follows closely the latest news in our country. He also said that Latvia is ready for cooperation and rehabilitation works in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
Noting the bilateral diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia, the Ambassador stressed the importance of the projects being implemented in Azerbaijan in the social and economic areas.
He also emphasized the importance of cooperation with the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs and expressed confidence that this cooperation will continue to develop in the future.
