An international conference on the 31st anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, was held

On 20 November 2020, on the initiative of the Child Ambassadors Council and with the support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, an international online conference entitled "Children's Rights: Children Join the Debate" was held.
Congratulating the children on November 20 - World Children’s Day, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Mrs.Bahar Muradova noted that the future of any country depends on their upbringing, level of education, development of national and moral values, and human qualities.
Mrs. BaharMuradova stressed that an improved legal framework has been created for the protection of children’s rights in Azerbaijan. She also emphasized that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries which ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992.
During her speech Mrs.Muradova said that the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs together with its partners is trying to do best to fulfill its obligations in the implementation of child policy, and children could contribute to this work with their ideas and suggestions.
Noting the importance of the “Child Ambassadors Council”, which was established by the State Committee for the announcement of 2020 "Year of Volunteers" by Azerbaijani President, Mrs.Muradova pointed out that the main goals of the Council are to ensure the participation of children in this process, better prepare children to express themselves independently, and improve their management skills. 
At the international conference held with participation of children from different countries, representatives of Azerbaijan children Yunis Guliyev, Rifak Zeynalov and Rufat Mammadov informed about important measures taken to protect children's rights, ensure comprehensive development of children in our country.
It was noted that the protection of children's rights in our country limits not only with the adoption of relevant legislation, but also with the organization of specific activities, and the creation of favorable conditions to ensure children's participation in this area.
During the conference, the children informed participants about the long-running Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and mentioned that children suffer particularly from that conflict.
It was mentioned that 12 children were killed and 50 were injured as a result of Armenian terror against civilians during the Great Patriotic War that started on September 27 in response to another provocation by the Armenian side. These crimes were pointed out as the striking examples of violations of children's rights.
The conference was attended by 25 children from 14 countries.
Children from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Latvia, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Georgia, Russia, India, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates during their speeches emphasized the importance of: ensuring equal opportunities for all children, access to education, health care and public services, protection of children from violence, prevention of early marriage, child labor, child abuse, as well as creating a safe world for children, their participation in decision-making on issues related to children's rights.
The conference continued with a discussion of proposals on the establishment of an "International Children's Platform"
