On November 4, 2020, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Mrs. Bahar Muradova met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Junichi Wada.

Greeting the guests, the Chairperson of the Committee Mrs.Bahar Muradova noted that diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Japan were established in the spirit of mutual cooperation and were developing in all directions.

Speaking about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mrs.Muradova said that the shelling of Azerbaijani territories by Armenian armed forces, especially the cities located far from the war zone, is a gross violation of human rights. She stressed that especially women and children  have suffered  from the conflict. B.Muradova noted with regret that more than 1 million people became refugees and internally displaced as a result of the conflict, including families who lost heads of families and children who lost parents.
She underlined that the main issue for the state is to provide housing to people who will return to their homes after the liberation of our lands.
The Chairperson pointed out that currently the Committee is working on psycho-sociological rehabilitation of the women and children.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Junichi Wada  said that not only the Japanese government, but also the entire Japanese people are concerned about the conflict and the loss of civilian lives.  He expressed condolences to the families.
Noting that international documents were taken as a basis for Japan, the Ambassador expressed hope that the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia would be resolved on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions.
The Ambassador informed that celebration of the 30th anniversary of establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Japan would create conditions for further expansion of cooperation.
Noting the importance of projects being implemented in Azerbaijan in social and economic spheres, the Ambassador stressed the importance of cooperation with the Committee in the field of family issues and increasing the activity of women in various spheres.
