On November 1 a new building of the Child and Family Support Center was opened in Ismayilli.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony.
Mrs. Bahar Muradova, Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, said that the establishment and development of Child and Family Support Centers have yielded successful results in terms of increasing the effectiveness of community-based services and work with the population. The model of the Child and Family Support Center has been studied from international experience and adapted to the local situation and started to be applied in Azerbaijan. There are such kind of centers in 11 districts working under the State Committee for Family, Women and Children. The main activity of the centers is to carry out social work with families at risk in the community. Thus, the activities of the centers include the prevention of children's enrollment in boarding schools, truancy, early marriage, domestic violence, the study of the problems of adolescents and children at dangerous ages, psychological work with them, the organization of leisure time for children and adolescents and other social issues, as well as awareness-raising activities.
It was noted that so far the center has received about 10,000 applications, and over the years, 39,000 Ismayilli residents have benefited from the center's activities. In accordance with the activities of the center, there are active therapy, psychologist, speech therapist, communication therapy, individual training, sensory, social work, computer, association, training, conference rooms, training room for women, swimming pool for water therapy, a hall for mother and child club to organize their leisure time and other rooms. In addition, appropriate conditions have been created for families at risk who want to benefit from the center's activities in nearby areas.
