The State Committee held a meeting with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Ms. Bahar Muradova, the Chairperson of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Issam bin Saleh al-Quteyli, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, On December 8, 2023.
Welcoming the guests, the Chairperson of the Committee looked at the history of relations between Azerbaijan and the friendly country Saudi Arabia, and pointed out that during the past period, special importance was attached to these relations under the leadership of National leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as Mr. President Ilham Aliyev.
She said that the activity of the embassy will contribute to the further development of these relations between our peoples, which are based on historical roots.
Talking about the relations between the women of the two countries, the chairperson said that the delegation led by the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, Sadagat Gahramanova, participated in the international conference on "Women in Islam: their status and empowerment" held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last month.
Ms. B. Muradova noted the importance of the discussions on the issues of family, women and children in Islam.
At the same time, she thanked the ambassador for the participation of the delegation led by the Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council of Saudi Arabia in the Non-Aligned Movement Conference on "Development of Women's Rights and Empowerment of Women" held in Baku on November 20-21.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chairperson of the Committee for the warm reception, Ambassador Issam bin Saleh Al-Qutayli emphasized that the two countries have mutual relations and relations based on historical roots.
Paying attention to the high-level conference of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku last month and dedicated to women, the ambassador noted that Azerbaijan has a successful experience in this field.
The guest stated that the representation of women in all spheres of society in Saudi Arabia is developing in a positive direction and noted the importance of exchanging experience in this field.
He expressed his belief that issues of mutual interest will contribute positively to the development of relations between our countries.
In the end, the chairperson talked about the existing multicultural environment in Azerbaijan and said that mutual enrichment with the culture of different nations is possible.
The meeting continued with a discussion about the current situation of women's rights in both countries, as well as possible priorities.
Ms. Kamala Hagverdiyeva, Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Relations and Protocol Service, and Mr. Teymur Mammadov, Assistant to the Chairperson of the Committee, took part in the meeting.
