A meeting was held with UNICEF's child protection expert

Mrs. Jeyran Rahmatullayeva, Chief of Staff of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs  met with Mrs.Stella Grigoras, a child protection specialist of the UNICEF Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia On June 13, 2023.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the prospects of cooperation between institutions related to the activity of state children's institutions and the protection of the rights of children placed in those institutions.

Mrs. Jeyran Rahmatullayeva, Chief of Staff of the Committee,  pointed out that the protection of children's rights is a priority direction of the institution's activity, and informed about the measures implemented in this field as the central executive authority implementing the state children's policy.

She said that according to the "Rule of state control over the implementation of children's rights" adopted in 2012, a monitoring group consisting of representatives of relevant institutions and non-governmental organizations operates under the leadership of the Cabinet of Ministers, and regular monitoring is carried out in children's institutions.

It was noted that currently, in accordance with the clauses stipulated in the Action Plan adopted for the "Strategy for Children of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the years 2020-2030" adopted in 2020, necessary measures are being taken by relevant institutions in the said field.

Mrs.Stella Grigoras, a UNICEF specialist, voiced her opinions and suggestions about the support that UNICEF can provide regarding the reforms implemented in the field of protection of children placed in state children's institutions in Europe and Central Asia.

She pointed out that there are positive trends regarding the de-institutionalization of children in Azerbaijan. She said that UNICEF is ready to support the Committee's priorities and work in the field of child protection.
