Taking into account that the first "State Program on the Protection of Human Rights" was approved by the national leader Heydar Aliyev on June 18, 1998 in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the provision of human rights was defined as one of the main directions of the state policy, 18 June is  celebrated as Human Rights Day  with the  order the President of the country Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated June 18, 2007.
