An international scientific-practical conference on the role of national and universal values in the development of the family institution: national and international experience was held on 16 May 2023, dedicated to the International Day of the Family and organized jointly by the Committee on Family and Women under the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan and "Family and Woman" Research Institute.

The conference, which was held in a hybrid format, was attended by representatives of a number of government bodies from Uzbekistan, international organizations (UNFPA, UNICEF) and relevant structures from other countries.

Speaking at the conference, deputy head of the Family Affairs Department of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs underlined that family policy is one of the priority directions of the state policy in Azerbaijan, noting relevant decrees and orders signed in the country for further improvement of family well-being, strengthening social protection, as well approved state programmes.

She also mentioned the implementation of major projects aimed at preserving national-spiritual and family values, protecting children's rights, and integrating people in need of special care into society.
