“Women and Intellectual Property. Innovation and creativity" conference was held

"Women and intellectual property "Innovation and creativity" conference was held on April 26, 2023, on the occasion of the International Intellectual Property Day with the joint organization of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Intellectual Property Agency.

Mrs. Kamran Imanov, the Chairperson of the Management Board of the Intellectual Property Agency, who delivered the opening speech, welcomed the conference participants and said that the main purpose of the events held on the eve of "World Book and Copyright Day" and "International Intellectual Property Day" is to support the formation of intellectual property culture, intellectual property in the knowledge society, to highlight the irreplaceable importance of property in stimulating creativity and innovation factors. He emphasized that this year's events are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the architect of our state. He pointed out that the current realities are the victory of the National leader, that his ideas and thoughts have become the most valuable intellectual property of our society, public opinion and value.

Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, made a speech and emphasized that it is not a coincidence that such an event is held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.

Mrs. Bahar Muradova, who expressed that the greatest service of the national leader is to build an independent state of Azerbaijan and return the right of Azerbaijanis to live freely, spoke about his activities in the direction of establishing human and civil rights and freedoms in our country, as well as ensuring intellectual property rights as a component of these rights.

The chairperson of the State Committee said that the list of the main factors necessary for women to succeed in the field of innovation and creativity includes talent and skills, favorable environment, the priorities of society and the state. Women's natural duties and obligations slightly overshadow their duties towards the state and society. She added that today digital technologies eliminate a number of mentioned problems. During the pandemic, women continued their activities without leaving home.

Mrs.Bahar Muradova, pointed out that Azerbaijan is interested in the development of intellectual property and the fulfillment of obligations in this field, as well as in the relevant activities for the purpose of increasing the percentage of women's participation. She said that intellectual property owners should show interest in cooperation with the Agency, especially realizing the potential of our women as inventors, strive for active participation.

Speaking later, Mr. Adil Karimli, the Minister of Culture touched on the relevance of the topic and noted that it is always admirable to reveal particularly sensitive topics and present the mechanisms aimed at solving them.

Speaking about the role of women in the development of the society, the minister pointed out that Azerbaijani women have a great contribution in the creation of many values, as well as cultural values and intellectual property.

A. Karimli said that there are sufficient opportunities and legal mechanisms in our country for women to contribute to any sphere as equal individuals.

Mrs.Hijran Huseynova, chairperson of the Family, Women and Children Affairs Committee of the Milli Majlis, said that Azerbaijan has a unique history of women's participation in science and education. During the years when the Great Leader led Azerbaijan, she paid special attention to further increasing the level of knowledge of women and their work in various fields of science. She noted that currently there is a serious need for intelligence, especially artificial intelligence, information and communication technologies, new scientific inventions and their creators in the development of all fields.

Later, Mrs. Nadira Badalbeyli, Head of Intellectual Property Agency Registration and Legal Expertise Department spoke on the topic of "Women and Intellectual Property: Female Writer, Poet and Composer",  Chief of Staff of SCFWCA, Mrs. Jeyran Rahmatullayeva spoke on "Women and Intellectual Property: Role of the State and the Family in the Development of Women's Creativity role",  Mrs. Gulnara Rustamova, advisor to the Chairman of the Management Board of the Intellectual Property Agency spoke on "Women and intellectual property: a female inventor" topics.

At the same time, Mrs. Nargiz Hajiyeva, deputy director of the Patent and Trademark Expertise Center under the Intellectual Property Agency spoke on "Women and intellectual property: the role of a trademark in the activity of a female entrepreneur", Mrs. Leyla Khalilova, head of the education reform coordination sector of the Ministry of Science and Education spoke on  "Women and intellectual property: female researchers" topics and they touched on important points such as the development of women's entrepreneurship and increasing the role of women in science.
