Meetings were held on "Prevention of pre-birth gender selection" with the participation of students and teachers at the Baku State Vocational Education Center for Culture and Crafts in the Khazar region and the Baku State Vocational Education Center for Industry and Innovation in the Binagadi region within the framework of the joint cooperation of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs with the Social-Health Reforms Center (ISIM) of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science and Education.
Mrs. Kamila Aliyeva, Deputy Head of the Family Affairs Department of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs made a presentation called "Let's say NO to the gender selection of children before birth!" and gave information about the cases of artificial disruption of pregnancy due to sex selection, the elimination of gender stereotypes that are at the root of the superiority given by sex, and the adjustment of the sex ratio among children born in families to the biological norm at the meetings held on April 4-5, 2023,
At the same time, she brought to attention information about the laws adopted in this direction, state programs, implemented measures and international experience.
Then Mrs. Zumrud Kazimova, a doctor-methodologist of the Center for Public Health Reforms of the Ministry of Health, spoke to the participants about reproductive health, noted the negative effects of abortion on women's reproductive health and psychological state, as well as information about family planning.
During the meetings, the questions of the participants were answered, "Gender equality starts from the mother's womb!" printed material named was distributed.
It should be noted that 174 students and teaching staff benefited from the meetings.
