A regional conference entitled "Protection of Children in Difficult Circumstances and Improvement of Local Mechanisms" was held at Heydar Aliyev Center in the Ganja city on October 26, 2022.
Issues related to protection of rights and interests of children subjected to violence, protection of children's rights in families where domestic violence has occurred, provision of assistance and services in accordance with the legislation, strengthening of interagency coordination in this area and discussions on improvement of existing gaps were discussed at the conference held for implementation of the National Strategy for Children of Azerbaijan for 2020-2030 and the National Action Plan for Combating Domestic Violence in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2020-2023.
Greeting the guests, the Chairperson of the State Committee Bahar Muradova noted that one of the most dynamically developing directions in the field of human rights in our country is the rights of the child. Stressing that these issues fall within the competence of a large number of state bodies, the Chairperson underlined that the Committee, in turn, as a body coordinating activities in this area, is working to improve legislation, form effective mechanisms, and increase skills of workers in this field.
Speaking about the legal framework of state child policy, Mrs. Muradova noted that one of the main directions of the " Action plan to implement the strategy on children for 2020-2025 " is the social protection and rehabilitation of children in difficult circumstances, neglected and socially dangerous situations.
Continuing her speech, the Chairperson added that in January 2023, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) will hear the next periodic report on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in our country.
B. Muradova also spoke about the importance of interagency coordination, as well as more effective organization of work with the media and public for a more efficient and flexible response to these issues.
