On June 23, 2022, as part of the 22nd Meeting of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, elections for the 2023-2026 UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) were held in New York.

The candidate from Azerbaijan Elgun Safarov, a specialist in international law, PhD, was re-elected as a member of the Committee for another term by 109 votes.
