A board meeting of the State Committee was held

On February 11, 2022, a meeting of the Board of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs was held to discuss the results of 2021 and the tasks ahead.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Child and Family Support Centers operating under the Committee and members of the public council.

In her opening speech, Mrs. Bahar Muradova, Chair of the State Committee greeted the participants. Noting that last year was remembered in Azerbaijan as the first anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi", the Committee Chair said that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, huge constructive work was carried out in the liberated territories, as well as active international policy. She noted that along with the important events and achievements, the pandemic continues this year and creates new problems. Noting that 2022 has been declared the "Year of Shusha", the Chair of the Committee stressed the importance of seeing our prospects, identifying new directions, and evaluating the challenges of the past year, as well as opportunities.

Then Bahar Muradova presented information on the results of the Committee's activities in 2021 and the tasks ahead. The presentation included documents prepared and proposed to improve the regulatory framework for the Committee's activities in ensuring family, women and children policy, and an extensive information is provided about research, analysis and surveys, projects and meetings implemented in the framework of international cooperation, Child and Family Support Centers, as well as the Women Resource Centers. At the same time, she spoke in detail about the measures taken to prevent domestic violence, ensure gender equality, women's rights, increase economic participation, develop children's leadership skills, protect their rights, as well as the well-being of families, and the work planned for 2022.

Mrs. Ramila Seyidova, Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, informed about the measures taken in Nakhchivan to ensure the rights and general welfare of families, women and children.

Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova, the Deputy Chair of the State Committee informed the board members about the measures taken in the field of women's and gender issues, legal security and combating domestic violence, and spoke about the measures to be taken this year.

Mrs. Aynur Sofiyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Committee noted the work done on family and children's issues, work with the media and civil society, research and analysis. During her speech, she noted the existing problems, shortcomings and upcoming issues.

Then the members of the public council voiced their views and suggestions on the activities of the Committee, the existing problems. They also discussed the further development of cooperation and the organization of coordinated work between the agencies.

Then, according to the agenda of the board, the information on Answering the Questions on the Fifth and Sixth Periodic Reports and Reports of the Government of Azerbaijan on the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Convention on the Rights of the Child was reported by Mr. Farid Adilov, the head of the International relations and protocol service department of the State Committee.

At the end of the meeting, draft decisions were adopted on the issues on the agenda.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Bahar Muradova thanked the meeting participants and expressed confidence that the Committee will work more effectively this year.
