December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Every year on December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated all over the world. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on December 14, 1992. The purpose of this day is to achieve the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in all spheres of public life and to draw public attention to their problems.

People with disabilities are always in the focus of the State Committee.

Implementation of an active and purposeful state policy to fully ensure the rights, material and moral needs of persons with disabilities is one of the main activities of the State Committee for  Family, Women and Children Affairs.

In addition to conducting psychosocial work with vulnerable families in the regions, the 11 Child and Family Support Centers under the Committee are involved in active, communication and art the rapies, and psychological counseling services for children with special needs and their family members in order to integrate them into society.

In order to increase the attention and care for people with disabilities and their families, to draw public attention to the solution of their problems, various projects are implemented in cooperation with relevant institutions and organizations, international experience is studied, communities are regularly educated.

This year, as every year, events are organized by the centers on the occasion of December 3 - International Day of Persons with Disabilities, visits are made to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, veterans' families, as well as families of people with disabilities who benefit from the centers.

This year, the Child and Family Support Centers received 190 appeals from people with disabilities on various issues and 132 appeals on children with special needs. Also, 182 children benefited from active and communication therapy, 173 children from developmental classes, 413 people from psychological counseling. Also, on the basis of applications, 25 people were provided with wheelchairs, hearing aids, orthopedic shoes and other equipment provided. As part of the "Family to Family" campaign, appropriate assistance was provided to families with children with disabilities during the year.
