The Twinning project has developed an information booklet on domestic violence indicators, guidelines, risk assessment tools and practical models and modern best practices for dealing with domestic violence cases in accordance with European standards.

Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova, the Deputy Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs noted: “Improvement of national legislation and adoption of new normative legal acts in the field of domestic violence and gender equality in Azerbaijan has led to positive results in this area. Nevertheless, we still face this problem in Azerbaijan, as in many countries around the world. There is no place for violence in our society and it is impossible to justify it. One of the main tools in the fight against domestic violence is education and prevention. This includes the proper use and application of knowledge and skills by professionals working in this area, taking into account international experience. These materials are based on international experience, and in the material you can get acquainted with recommendations for experts, risk assessment tools, as well as information on legal and psychological assistance to victims of domestic violence. I am confident that the funds will be a useful tool for the activities of professionals working in this field. We thank our colleagues from Lithuania and Austria for making this happen”

In the booklet, you will learn about practical models and modern best practices in supporting victims of domestic violence. Here, the content is presented in accordance with the steps of the referral mechanisms. The chapters at the beginning of the booklet contain guidelines for identifying domestic violence and are intended for educators, health workers, police officers, and local government officials. Subsequent chapters discuss the post-incident investigation process and the support phase for the victim. The last chapters contain recommendations that can be useful for judges during court proceedings.

According to its content, it was developed within the framework of the Twinning project "Strengthening the capacity of government agencies and local referral mechanisms to ensure the safety and support of victims of domestic violence in Azerbaijan."
