A roundtable discussion was held to discuss the Twinning project on domestic violence

EU-funded Twinning project “Strengthening the capacity of the State Bodies and local level referral mechanisms to provide safety and support to the victims of domestic violence” hosted a rountable with the support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs on 19 January 2021.

The discussions which were held remotely focused on exploring the opportunities of local municipalities to be represented in Monitoring Groups on Domestic Violence and Violence against Children, the activities carried out by municipalities in the field of domestic violence and whether the municipalities possess necessary resources to function more actively in the field of domestic violence in future.

During the discussion, which was conducted by a Lithuanian expert, the articipants answered numerous questions on the above-mentioned matters, in particular, legislative powers of municipalities in the field of combatting domestic violence and how they can contribute to the activities of Monitoring Groups.

The discussion was organized as part of the Twinning project activity which foresees a development of a strategy for inclsuion of rural municipalities in the Monitoring Groups.

It should be noted that the project funded by the European Union and implemented by Lithuania and Austria in partnership with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs of Azerbaijan, aims to strengthen the capacity of state bodies and local level referral mechanisms to provide safety and support to victims of domestic violence in Azerbaijan.
