The meeting discussed the recent situation resulting from the military aggression and terrorist policy of Armenia, as well as the rights of children and women and gender issues.  

Mrs. Bahar Muradova welcomed the guests and thanked them for their initiative in holding the meeting. Noting that the Azerbaijani-British partnership has a rich history and has been successfully developing over the years, Mrs.Muradova thanked the Embassy for the frank expression of a fair position on what is happening. She emphasised that Azerbaijan had clearly stated its position to fight for territorial integrity and return of its lands and believed in future development and prosperity at the end of this struggle.

The Chairperson thanked the British Embassy for its interest in intensive cooperation with the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan and made suggestions, touching upon the issues of joint cooperation on the protection of the rights of children and women and gender regulation in the post-conflict reconstruction phase.

The Ambassador thanked the Chairperson of the Committee for the meeting and expressed his condolences to the families of those who died as a result of the military aggression.The Ambassador said he is ready to provide the necessary assistance in cooperation with various organisations.

Talking about the role of women in the establishment of peace throughout history, the Ambassador expressed hope that Azerbaijani women would also make a great contribution to peacebuilding. Noting that conflicts play a negative role in maintaining gender balance and ensuring the principles of women - peace and security, Mr.Sharp stressed the importance of paying attention to these issues.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that cooperation with the State Committee for the establishment of peace and security in the reconstruction phase will continue in the long term.

The meeting was also attended by Sabina Manafova the Head of the Foreign Relations and Protocol Services Department of the State Committee.
