On September 27, 2020 the Armed Forces of Armenia launched another aggression against Azerbaijan.

Armenian armed forces, which have repeatedly violate the ceasefire regime, continue to attack along the line of contact, intensively shelling the Azerbaijani positions and settlements using various types of weapons and artillery, and causing extensive damage to civilian and military facilities.

Purposefully targeting civilians, in particular women and children, killing and injuring them as a result of this military aggression once again demonstrate the Armenian vandalism to the world community.

Elbrus Gurbanov, born in 1951, a resident of the village of Gashalti in the Naftalan region of Azerbaijan and his four family members, Shafayat Gurbanova, born in 1956, Fidan Gurbanova, born in 2006, Shahriyar Gurbanov, born in 2007 and Afag Amirova, born in 1981 were killed as a result of the shelling civilians by the Armenian Armed Forces yesterday. 27 civilian people were wounded in total.

These events are assessed as a continuation of the violent and aggressive actions committed by Armenia on July 12 of this year in the direction of the Tovuz region of the state border.

Armenia's failure to comply with its obligations under international instruments, its non-compliance with the relevant provisions of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and other important human rights instruments is another gross violation of international humanitarian law and principles and proves that Armenia continues to commit war crimes.

The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have taken counter-offensives measures in response to the Armenian aggression, declaring no war on civilians, women and children.

As the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, we call upon the international community, as well as relevant international organizations not to watch the crimes committed by Armenia the country that has not implemented UN Security Council Resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884, and taken no notice of UN General Assembly Resolution on ‘Situation on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan’ dated 2006 and 2008, United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, UN Security Council Resolution 2427 on Children and armed conflict, but to take the necessary steps and appropriate measures to restore the violated rights and freedoms of civilians, especially women and children, as a result of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
