Bahar Muradova met with Uganda's Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development

On 2 May 2024, Chairperson of the State Committee Bahar Muradova met with Uganda's Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Sneedini Ong.
Bahar Muradova welcomed the guests attending the VI World Forum of Intercultural Dialogue on the theme "Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Interaction" and expressed her pleasure in seeing them in our country.
Paying attention to the prestigious event being held in our capital these days, the Chairperson noted that this event is an important date in the socio-political life of Azerbaijan. She underlined that during the panel session "Promotion of women's rights in intercultural dialogue: on the way to global development" held within the Forum, problems faced by peoples and countries were expressed, and experience and recommendations were voiced with the participation of guests from different countries and international organizations. The Chairperson drew attention to the importance of meetings held in such formats in ensuring human rights and expressed the importance of maximising the use of these opportunities.

Appreciating the Minister's performance at the international level, the Chairperson of the Committee noted that she represents a country that is confidently pursuing its goals and added that we should intensify our mutual activities in relevant areas as partner institutions.

Noting that Azerbaijan's Chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement and relations between the two countries are developing, the Chairperson emphasised that the messages and important steps taken by our country with the support of Uganda and other member states of the Movement are a great achievement and contribution to the process of ensuring peace and security in the world. She expressed confidence that this process will become more sustainable in the coming years.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, Betty Sneedini Ongom, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development of Uganda, expressed satisfaction with participation in the Global Forum and underlined the main points and messages presented in the opening speech of President Ilham Aliyev.

While assessing Azerbaijan's activity during its Chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement, the guest noted that the country has taken significant steps towards the establishment of the Movement and has proposed many crucial initiatives.  
The Minister emphasized the importance of joint and coordinated efforts in various fields related to women's rights. She referred to the "Conference on the Development and Expansion of Women's Rights" and noted that such efforts would be beneficial in the positive implementation of the documents adopted during the event.
During the bilateral meeting, the participants discussed potential cooperation opportunities to improve coordination in relevant areas.  Other officials from both sides also participated in the meeting.
