Aynur Sofiyeva - Deputy Chairperson

Aynur Sofiyeva was born on 19 July 1970 in Gakh district. In 1986, she graduated from secondary school with a gold medal and entered the faculty of journalism at Baku State University, graduating with honours in 1991. In 1997-2001, she received a second higher education in the speciality " Law" at Baku State University.

From 1998 to 2000, she worked as a senior consultant in the Legal Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population. In 2000-2005, she was a deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

In 2002-2007 she was appointed as the President of the Azerbaijani Chess Federation. In 2007, she was appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs by the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

Since 2016, she has been a member of the Amnesty Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Since 1995, she has been a member of the Yeni Azerbaijan Party. At the VII Congress of the party (5 March 2021) she was elected a member of the (YAP) Board.  

At the age of 6, she won the title of champion among youth, at the age of 14 - among girls, at the age of 15 - champion of Azerbaijan among women, at the age of 16 - champion among girls. At the age of 20, she became the world champion among students (2 gold medals), in the same year, she won a silver medal at the World Championship among girls under 20 years of age.

In 1993 as part of the national team of Azerbaijan she won the silver medal of the World Championship among youth under 26 years of age, she is also the winner of many international tournaments.

In 1990 she won the title of the first international grandmaster of Azerbaijan and the first international grandmaster among women in the Islamic world.

Married and has two children.

Awards:

In 1995, she was awarded the "Taraggi" medal by the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 2020, she was awarded the Order "For Services to the Fatherland" of the third degree.

In 2024, she was awarded the Jubilee Medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan "100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)"
