World Diabetes Day was launched in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to the rapid rise of diabetes around the world.

The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs together with Azerbaijani Diabetes Society held the event dedicated to the “World Diabetes Day” on 14 November, 2017.

The event was opened by the chair of Azerbaijan Diabetes Society Mominat Omarova.She welcomed the participants and gave information about the World Diabetes Day. Afterwards the floor was given to deputy chair of The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Mrs.Sadagat Gahramanova, prorector of the Azerbaijan Medical University and endocrinologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rafiq Mammadhasanov, the head of Social Legislaton Department of Milli Majlis Adila Abbasova.
