“Azerbaijani women established the future women's movement in independent Azerbaijan with this congress, women's activity in society, their participation in the life of society and the state. You have laid the foundation for this, you have done a great job. I heartily congratulate you on this occasion.”

These words were said by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev at the 1st Congress of Azerbaijani Women, which took place on September 14, 1998 and lasted for two days.

Our National Leader, who said that women are always the leading force, highly appreciated their potential.

When we look at the period when he led our country and his large-scale and multifaceted activities, we once again witness that the issues of the participation of all citizens, including women, in social and political life, their representation in state administration, and the provision of equal rights in all fields were identified as the priority directions of state policy.

This congress, which was attended by more than two thousand representatives and all state officials without exception, was of great importance in terms of women's activism and the analysis of the problems faced by them.

According to Heydar Aliyev, four congresses of Azerbaijani Women were held in 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018 after this congress, which laid the foundation of the future women's movement on that day. During these years, our country and people have taken a great way towards the highest peaks of development with the ideas of Heydar Aliyev.

Azerbaijani women also made great contributions to this development by fulfilling the missions they undertook as honest and responsible citizens, loyal to these ideas.

This remarkable period in which we are living the most glorious days of the military and political history of Azerbaijan requires us to set new tasks and define new missions to fulfill them.

Taking this into account, on October 19, 2023, Azerbaijan Women will gather for its next VI Congress.

This Forum, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the 25th anniversary of the First Congress of Azerbaijan Women, will be held in the "Gulustan" palace.
