A conference on "Supporting girls' education" was held

On March 2, 2023, a conference titled "Supporting girls' education" was held within the cooperation of the Education Development Foundation, the Ministry of Science and Education and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs on the occasion of International Women's Day.
In his opening speech, Chairman of the Board of the Education Development Fund Elnur Nasibov welcomed the guests and informed participants about the activities of the Fund.
He noted that one of the issues that the foundation pays great attention to is supporting the education of young girls and the implementation of projects aimed at educating girls entails a number of positive changes in both the social sphere and in the sphere of health and education.
He also mentioned that the project "Supporting Girls' Education" initially started as a small project and gradually expanded.
Expressing gratitude to the institutions and private organizations involved in the implementation of the project, Nasibov called on government agencies, public organizations, private sector, civil society as a whole to support this noble initiative.
Afterwards, a video clip dedicated to the project was shown at the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev talked about the influence of women on the economic development of the country and stressed the importance of their representation in education and science.
Regarding the projects implemented by the Education Development Fund, the Minister emphasized the importance of the project implemented within the framework of cooperation with the State Committee.
E. Amrullayev highly appreciated the project from the point of view that girls can justify themselves and take their place in the society and thanked Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the Committee, for initiating the project.
The Chairperson of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Problems Bahar Muradova, drawing attention to the project "Support to Girls' Education", noted that the idea, which appeared by chance in its time, has become a reality in a short time.
Emphasizing that 11 girls from poor families were supported during the launching of the project, the Chairperson of the Committee thanked the organizers for the support to this initiative started last year.
Head of the Department of the Education Development Foundation Nargiz Ismailova informed about the establishment of the scholarship program named after Hanifa Melikova-Zardabi.
She noted that Hanifa Melikova, to whom the scholarship is dedicated, as one of the first female enlighteners of Azerbaijan and founder of the first girls' school in Baku, has made an important contribution to the development of Azerbaijani women.
Then donation certificates were presented to the organizations supporting the project.
The event continued with discussions.
