On December 9, 2022, Mrs.Bahar Muradova, the Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, met with Mr. Hugo Guevara, the chargé d'affaires of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the guests, the Chair of the Committee said that the mutual and beneficial relations established between our countries in various fields continue successfully today. Mrs. Bahar Muradova, who talked about the issues related to the directions of activities of the State Committee, which is one of the important areas of these relations, noted that the determination of the policy related to family, women and children issues as a whole, the coordination of the work between the institutions that have the authority to realize this policy, the stratum included in the vulnerable group and the work done on the protection of their rights is the main items of our agenda.

During the period of reconstruction after the Patriotic War, the Chairperson of the Committee pointed out that within the framework of the "State Program for the Great Return in Territories Freed from Occupation" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, "Family Centers" will be built in Zangilan and Fuzuli regions and the Community Resource Center is planned to be opened in Lachin. She added that a number of new directions for cooperation in providing technical support have emerged. She also said that demining the territories freed from occupation during the peace-building period, as well as the return of internally displaced persons to their lands, is a priority issue for Azerbaijan, and that the discussed topics require special attention in the current period, and she pointed out the importance of cooperation in this field.

Thanking for the warm reception, Mr. Hugo Guevara, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan pointed out that one of the main directions of his activities in Azerbaijan is the issue of women, children and gender.

Assessing the activities of the State Committee positively, H. Guevara noted that they are open to joint cooperation in the areas of activity. Emphasizing that he visited several Women's Resource Centers, H. Guevara highly appreciated the Center's activities in providing psychological and legal support services to victims of gender-based violence, as well as supporting women's networking, increasing their employment, knowledge and skills.

The parties also discussed joint projects to be implemented in other important areas for the coming period and discussed cooperation prospects.

Mr. Farid Adilov, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations and Protocol Service of the State Committee, and Mr. Brett Dvorak, adviser of the United States on political issues in Azerbaijan, took part in the meeting.
