Meeting organized by the State Committee was held at the Press Council of Azerbaijan within the EU-funded Twinning project

On 16 September 2021, a meeting was held at the Press Council of Azerbaijan within the EU-funded Twinning project “Strengthening the capacity of the State Bodies and local level referral mechanisms to provide safety and support to the victims of domestic violence”, implemeted by Lithuania and Austria in partnership with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs of Azerbaijan.
The meeting was attended by Lithuanian and Austrian experts Mintautė Jurkutė, Paulius Rymeikis, Thomas Hainlen and Manuela Hargassner-Delpos, who visited Baku as part of the project’s Component III “Campaign to raise awareness of general public conducted”, Aflatun Amashov, Head of Press Council of Azerbaijan and other representatives of PC as well as the leadership of the Information Department of the SCFWCA.
During the meeting, the Press Council representatives discussed various issues related to the coverage of domestic violence in the media and stressed the importance of preparing guidelines and delivering trainings for journalists in this area.
The meeting also discussed the support to be provided by the Press Council in organizing a public awareness campaign on domestic violence and training for journalists within the project.
The Twinning project project funded by the European Union and implemented by Lithuania and Austria in partnership with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs of Azerbaijan, aims to strengthen the capacity of state bodies and local level referral mechanisms to provide safety and support to victims of domestic violence in Azerbaijan.
