Mrs. Bahar Muradova,  the Chairperson  of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children  Affairs met with Mrs. Hande Harmanci, the Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan on March 4, 2021.

Welcoming the guests, Mr. Bahar Muradova thanked for the initiative of the meeting. Noting that she has been closely following the work of the World Health Organization and its projects for a long time, the chairman of the Committee said she  believed that the activity of WHO is very important for solving the difficult issues facing both Azerbaijan and the world.

Mrs. Muradova  said it was very positive that women were fulfilling their role in difficult and important work around the world at a high level. “You implement the priorities of the organization you represent and the tasks set before them, as well as do the work that is important for the country you represent. I express my deep gratitude to you for all this and I believe that the common world efforts, including your activities, will bear fruit and we will finally return to normal life."

The chairman of the committee noted that this meeting provides an opportunity to hear information about your activities, talk about future work within the capabilities of the State Committee.

Mrs. Harmanci expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the State Committee, noting that domestic violence increased during the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, and said that they were always ready to help in this area.

Then Mr. Vugar Mammadov, WHO National Consultant in Azerbaijan, made a presentation on the project "Strengthening the Sector of Assistive Technologies in Azerbaijan". He noted that the main purpose of the project is to assess the current situation with access to Assistive Technologies and  support the implementation of effective policies for access to Assistive Technologies.

Mr. Mammadov said that the main purpose of the AT is to protect or improve  persons` functionality and inclusion in society and restore their well-being.

Noting that the survey prepared by the WHO is based on the latest sociological requirements, Mr. Vugar Mammadov said that the survey has already been applied in 40 countries. Speaking about the conflict around Karabakh, Mr. Mammadov added that the need for Assistive Technologies in our country is greater than ever.
