On June 30, 2020 an online meeting was held between the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Mrs. Baha rMuradova and the Head of the Council of Europe Office in the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr.Zoltan Hernyes.

During the meeting they discussed joint work within the framework of mutual cooperation, especially in the area of media and gender equality.

Welcoming the guests, the Chairperson of the Committee Mrs. Bahar Muradova noted the achievements made through successful cooperation with the Council of Europe.
It was noted that  the coverage of the gender component in the media, applying international standards and training journalists in this area are very important.In this regard, the project "Gender Equality and Media", implemented jointly with the Council of Europe, will continue to be supported by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
Emphasizing  the importance of ratification the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote) by Azerbaijan, Mrs. Bahar Muradova underlined that the ratification of the Convention is aimed to prevention of sexual crimes against children, prosecution of perpetrators and represents an essential step in protection of child victims.She also mentioned the adoption of the “Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Children for 2020-2030" and development of the national action plan in this direction.

Head of the Council of Europe in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Zoltan Hernyes highly assessed the efficiency of cooperation with our country and noted the importance of continuing this partnership.

Mr. Z. Hernyes  praised Azerbaijan's ratification of  the Lanzarote Convention, talked about future projects on the promotion of gender standards in media and advertising, combating violence against women and children, and campaigns on raising awareness of women's access to justice.
