On 16 June 2020, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an online professional training course on the topic "Ensuring gender equality in local government: achievements and positive practices".25 local government officials from Baku and Absheron district participated in this course.

The Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Mrs. Bahar Muradova, welcomed the participants and talked about  importance of various courses and trainings held by the Committee together with the Academy of Public Administration since 2008. She emphasized  the importance of this four-day training in terms of improving the knowledge and skills of employees implementing public policies on gender equality and protection of women and children.

Then rector of Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan academician Urkhan Alakbarov made a report on
"Innovative technologies of public administration in global emergency situations: experience of Azerbaijan". The rector emphasized that ensuring gender equality as a strategic goal in our country is part of the successful policy of H.E. President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President  Mrs, Mehriban Aliyeva.

It should be noted that the online training, which will be held from 16 to 19 June, includes discussions on such issues as: gender equality in local government, key aspects of the municipal bodies, gender aspects of the pandemic: international and national experiences, the mechanism for combating and preventing gender-based violence in national legislation, the role of associations in protecting the rights of municipalities and the creation of equal conditions for men and women in the labor market during the pandemic.
