June 12 is marked by the International Labor Organization as World Day Against Child Labor.
The purpose of this day, first celebrated in 2002, is to draw public attention to the problem and to achieve the abolition of child labor.
According to the International Labor Organization, 152 million children are currently employed worldwide, and about half of them (73 million children) work in hazardous conditions. Today, many children in the world are deprived of schooling, proper nutrition and care.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has ratified the ILO Conventions on the Minimum Age for Employment, as well as on the Prohibition of the Worst Forms of Child Labor and Urgent Measures to Eliminate It. In addition, our national legislation does not allow children under the age of 15 to work. .
We note that the “Strategy on Children of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2020-2030” approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev ,dated June 2, 2020 emphasizes the need to strengthen control measures, especially in detecting child labor. We believe that the Strategy will give impetus to the strengthening of activities in this direction in the country and the establishment of a working mechanism.
Members of  Azerbaijan Child Ambassadors Council made the following statement, “we emphasize once again that the involvement of children in activities that could endanger their lives and health, their morale should not be allowed.
At the same time, we must not hesitate to help our families in the smallest things that teach us life skills, and we must not forget that we can do more for our family and our state with the pen we hold in our small hands, and carry the mission of being the future of mankind with dignity!”
