The training on "Gender Equality and Governance" was conducted

On October 25, 2022 the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan co-hosted a training on "Gender Equality and Governance" for gender focal points in the framework of the EU  funded "EU4 Gender Equality: Reform Help Desk" project.

The Deputy Chairperson of the State Committee, Sadagat Gahramanova, in her opening speech emphasized the importance of the event, noting that today gender focal points are present in almost all major government agencies and enterprises, as well as organizations operating in the country.

She stressed the importance of gender commissions in preventing domestic violence and shaping gender relations in families, as well as in increasing the representation of women in local government.

She also noted that the State Committee has currently prepared a guiding document regulating the activities of gender focal points.

The International Aid and Cooperation Officer of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan Maryam Haji-Ismailova, stressed that the EU is ready to contribute to such measures. She stated that during these three days, participants will exchange knowledge on gender issues, both internally and externally.

The training with the participation of representatives from various institutions, as well as gender-responsible persons from ministries, will continue from October 25-27.
